Eric crosswhite: welcome back.

We are joined now by barbara bigelow from main street columbus.

Good morning barbara.

Barbara bigelow: good morning.

Thank you for having me this beautiful brisk morning.

Eric crosswhite: happy to have you.

It's getting to be that time of year talking about holiday activities here downtown.

You got one big one that kicks everything off.

Barbara bigelow: we have our christmas open house this weekend.

It's actually the first christmas event we have and it kicks off everybody's shopping experience.

It will be friday and saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and then on sunday we'll be here from 1:00 to 5:00.

We have about 15 of our businesses participating and on sunday we'll have about eight of them open so we're really, really excited.

It's been i would say a devastating year this year for our small businesses so there's no better time to support our small downtown businesses than now.

Eric crosswhite: right.

And that ties into this year's theme too.

Barbara bigelow: that's exactly right.

We have developed a theme for all of our holiday activities this year at main street,, it's a good one, don't let the grinch steal your christmas.

We are not going to let... and look who's here trying to steal the spotlight already.

See?

Eric crosswhite: he couldn't even let us have the interview.

Barbara bigelow: no way.

I don't know what we're going to do with that i'm telling you.

Eric crosswhite: i love that theme though because it really does tie into maybe how people are feeling this time.

Barbara bigelow: i think so.

We were sitting in the office one day trying to figure out what we could do to just add a lot of fun to the season this year, my pal here.

And we came up with this idea and all of our events will center around that.

So it's really been fun already and i feel like it'll be more fun.

It's only eight weeks till christmas.

Eric crosswhite: right.

We're getting there.

It's getting close to it and people need to start thinking about christmas shopping.

Barbara bigelow: absolutely.

So we're going to be here this weekend ready for them one thing i do want to mention, we will have a grand prize this year worth almost $500.

It's all gift certificates donated by our downtown merchants.

So, come downtown and shop and be sure and enter for the drawing for that.

Eric crosswhite: absolutely.

And like you mentioned, the open house is the big event and this is something that people i'm sure look forward to every year.

Barbara bigelow: i think so.

And our merchants do, they're decorating their windows and just getting into the holiday spirit and we need a lot of that this year and we don't need this guy around to take our christmas away.

We want to make sure we have a good one.

Just look at him.

Eric crosswhite: absolutely and come to the open house, help shew the grinch away, start off your christmas season in the right way.

Barbara remind everybody where it's going to be, where it's going to start, where do they need to go, all that good stuff.

Barbara bigelow: okay.

It's in downtown columbus, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both friday and saturday and then on sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.

So just come on down and shop small, shop local and shop downtown.

Eric crosswhite: and this is just the first of many holiday activities that are going to be coming in.

Barbara bigelow: oh yes.

This is the first actually of six that we have coming up in five weeks so we'll be hopefully coming and sharing the details of all the others as well.

Eric crosswhite: a lot going on.

I'm sure we'll have you back soon.

Barbara thanks so much for talking to us this morning.

Barbara bigelow: thank you.

I appreciate it.
