Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised doctors opposed to the Central government's move to allow Ayurveda practitioners to perform surgeries.
The government recently said that post-graduate practitioners in certain Ayurveda streams can be trained to perform general surgery.
The Indian Medical Association opposed the move, even calling a nationwide strike on December 11, 2020.
Adityanath said that Ayurveda gave the world the technique of surgery, and so doctors should drop their opposition.
