Happening today - madison city schools will break ground on a new middle school!

The board of education will hold a ground breaking ceremony at the site of the new school behind the central office in madison.

This new school will be called journey middle school.

Here is a look at a drawing of what the school is expected to look like.

It's mascot?

The jaguars the $51.2 million dollar project is all inclusive - meaning that includes initial site prep, construction, and all the furnishings.

The building will be 170,000 square feet and hold up to 1,200 students.

This is the third middle school for madison city.

Right now, a new elementary school is also under construction - that will open this fall.

Journey middle school is set to open in the fall of 2022.
