This week, Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement from the Supreme Court.
In his announcement made alongside President Biden, Justice Breyer–who has served since 1994 after being appointed by President Clinton–expressed his belief that Americans would uphold the “experiment” of democracy for future generations.
