We speak to Farah Nabulsi, Director of the Oscar-nominated film ‘The Present’ which focusses on a Palestinian family’s struggle living near an Israeli IDF checkpoint.
She discusses how the checkpoints are just a small part of the wider occupation and apartheid apparatus that Palestinians are living under, her belief that the film industry is opening up to films focussing on racism and discrimination unapologetically, how the checkpoints don’t serve the security interests of Palestinians, her hopes that the next generation of Palestinians will be much more defiant in their struggle against occupation and much more!
