The Hindu and Buddhist temples were built during the Medang (Ancient Mataram) Kingdom, around the 19th century 7th to 9th century AD.
Having been neglected for hundreds of years, these various ancient heritages have begun to receive attention and have been restored since the late 19th century, during the colonial period until after Indonesian independence.
