The Left commonly says it is fighting "threats to our democracy." What does that even mean?
What threats?
What democracy?
The Obama-approved phrase is really a dog whistle to Democrats that some ugly, illegal crap is about to go down, but that it's all okay because the rest of us must be saved.
This martyr complex sounds convoluted but is really quite simple.
1.
Pretend there is an emergency.
2.
Make it sound really important.
3.
Beat it into the people's heads, and 4.
Ride in on a white horse to save the day.
You will hear many examples of it today.
Charles Barkley, Jocelyn Benson, Rachel Maddow.
But once you hear it, you can't unhear it, and their propaganda fails to be effective.
