Irish Travellers, also known as Pavees or Mincéirs are a nomadic indigenous ethnic group whose members maintain a set of traditions, and are one of several groups identified as "Travellers". They are predominantly English-speaking, though many also speak Shelta, a language of mixed English and Irish origin. Religiously, the majority of Irish Travellers are Catholic, the predominant religion in the Republic of Ireland.
