'Human toll was tremendous': Death toll from Hurricane Ida rises to 50 in Northeast US

Ida's record-breaking rainfall of almost eight centimetres per hour, recorded in New York City's Central Park, sent walls of water slamming through businesses, public transportation systems and 1,200 homes, Governor Kathy Hochul said.
