One of the biggest Waze's shortcomings is the need for a permanent Internet connection, as the app doesn't integrate an offline mode for a good reason. Its crowdsourcing engine requires an Internet connection to download and upload traffic data, and once you go offline, such as when driving in a region with no cellular signal, it can no longer provide updated traffic reports or look for alternate routes.
