District Metals Corp (CVE:DMX) (OTCMKTS:MKVNF) has posted further historic drill highlights from its Tomtebo project in Sweden, which underscore the asset's potential, as the firm also unveiled the next steps at the property. The historic assays from the formerly producing mine at the Gårdsgruvans zone hail from campaigns carried out by state-owned company Stora AB between 1916 and 1972. READ: District Metals reveals historical high grade intercepts of up to 1,458 grams per ton silver from its Tomtebo project in Sweden They reveal shallow and high grade copper mineralization, which runs from near surface to a depth of 200 metres (m) and significantly, remains open along strike and at depth, noted the company. While the majority of historic drill core from this zone was only analyzed for copper, significant gold and silver values were also observed, it added. "The presence of high-grade copper enriched with precious metals at the former Tomtebo Mine is very important," said Garrett Ainsworth, District Metals CEO in a statement on Tuesday. "This type of mineralization and associated alteration confirms that intensely strong feeder zones were active, which is an essential component of a robust polymetallic mineralizing system in the Bergslagen Mining District." Ainsworth noted that Boliden's Garpenberg Mine and Lundin Mining's Zinkgruvan Mine were excellent examples of robust polymetallic mineralizing systems, which also exhibit high-grade copper feeder zones.  "This set of historic drill results highlights the potential to expand and discover additional high-grade copper mineralization at Tomtebo with potential significant gold and silver values." Historic drill highlights from the Gårdsgruvans zone include 3.6 m at 3.98% copper (from 9.50 to 13.10 m, and 4 m at 11.79% copper (from 51.60 to 55.60 m). Another hole hit 5.5 m at 3.80% copper equivalent (CuEq) from 147.43 m to 152.93 m. The historical data from the Tomtebo Mine continues to be digitized, compiled and interpreted, said District, while an airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey (SkyTEM) was recently flown. The final SkyTEM data is expected by late-August, and then interpretive work will begin, with any conductive or magnetic high anomalies followed up as promising targets. Dr Rodney Allen, of Volcanic Resources has been retained to review all historical data and available drill core along with ongoing exploration data to assist in prioritizing drill targets, the company added.
