Strategic Energy Resources Limited (ASX:SER) has completed the drilling of three diamond holes at Saxby Gold Project in northwest Queensland on schedule with all holes hitting their respective target areas. Drilling at Saxby is targeting strike extensions of the key controlling structure for the brittle extensional veins that host gold mineralisation, a steeply dipping NNE-trending fault. The entire drill core will be sampled and assayed with fire assay for gold and four-acid digest/inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry and atomic emission spectroscopy for a full suite of elements. First assay results are expected to start arriving in mid-November. Drilling details Drill hole SXDD023 was drilled toward the east collared on a bearing of 090 degrees with an inclination of 75 degrees. Rotary-mud drilling was used in the cover sequence until the basement was intersected at 448 metres, where the hole was cased-off for diamond drilling until end of the hole at 825.6 metres. Hole deviation, which occurred early in the hole, was corrected. In 2019, SER drilled on vertical hole at Saxby which returned a best intersection of 6 metres at 12.08 g/t gold from 519 metres, including 2 metres at 32 g/t. Additional applications As the company’s understanding of the greater Canobie district has evolved, it has become convinced that the district represents an extension of the Cloncurry IOCG province. This has led to SER pegging five additional exploration licence applications surrounding its existing two licences to bring the total landholding to more than 1600 square kilometres.
