Psyched Wellness Ltd (CSE:PSYC) (OTCQB:PSYCF) (FRA:5U9) said it has kicked off the next preclinical trial of AME-1 (extract of the Amanita Muscaria mushroom) along with its clinical research organization, KGK Science.  The new study is a 14-day oral toxicity study of AME-1 designed to determine the dosage levels that will be selected and administered for a subsequent 90-day oral toxicity study.    The importance of this study is to determine dose-dependent effects and the highest dose that is safe to use for a longer-term study, the company said. This is an important milestone in the further understanding of the effects of AME-1 extract under a scientific methodology in pursuit of a safe dose for human consumption.  READ: Psyched Wellness initiates study on its AME-1 extract for gut health "This represents another milestone event in the scientific study of AME-1,” scientific advisor Brian Tancowny said. “The results of this study will further increase the knowledge and further identify the physical and chemical properties of AME-1."  The Amanita Muscaria mushroom, which grows wild throughout the temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, is easily recognizable with its red and white cap and has been used in traditional healing practices for centuries, according to the company. "The preclinical trial we are currently conducting is part of a number of smaller studies that need to happen in a specific order and, when completed, will combine to provide the foundation, of which our future products will be developed," CEO Jeff Stevens said. "As we embark on a new study or complete a study, we add significant value to the company as we are pioneering a path to market for AME-1 derived health and wellness products." Amanita Muscaria has three main components that activate the nervous system: ibotonic acid, muscimol and muscazone. Isolating muscimol compounds have been shown to treat stress and anxiety, ease muscular pain and promote restorative sleep.  Contact Andrew Kessel at andrew.kessel@proactiveinvestors.com Follow him on Twitter @andrew_kessel
