Music icon *Dr. Dre* is "getting excellent care" in Los Angeles following a brain aneurysm.

The mogul was a key part in the rise of N.W.A. before branching out with some hugely successful solo projects.

As a producer, he elevated Eminem to icon status, while steering Beats to become an internationally recognised brand.

Overnight reports flooded in that Dr. Dre had suffered a brain aneurysm, with the 55 year old being admitted to the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

In a statement his team said he is "doing great and getting excellent care" and that he will "be out of the hospital and back home soon..."
