Israeli city where Jews and Arabs have lived as neighbours now seeing unprecedented violence

The mixed city of Lod, in central Israel, is under a state of emergency after uncharacteristic violence broke out last week between Jewish and Arab Israelis in response to fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza.
