A woman is seeking answers after the sick dog she took to a shelter to have euthanized turned up more than a year later on a rescue adoption site. Kristie Pereira says she adopted a 2-month-old hound mix in 2022 from Lost Dog & Cat Rescue in Maryland. Within weeks, it was ill, diagnosed with a likely severe neurological disease. Weeks later after consulting three veterinarians and the rescue, she took the puppy to Montgomery County Animal Services. She paid $15 for it to be euthanized. But last week, she found her dog on the rescue's website, up for adoption again. The shelter said it determined the dog could be treated and turned it back over to the rescue.
