The Union Health Ministry on August 04 briefed the media in Delhi, over the current COVID-19 situation in nation. Speaking in press conference, Ministry of Health, Secretary, Rajesh Bhushan stated that more than 6.6 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in last 24 hours in the nation. Adding on it, he said recovered cases are now double of the active cases in India. He said, "More than 2 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted, including more than 6.6 lakh tests in the last 24 hours. Recovered cases are now double of the active cases. The case fatality rate is lowest since the first lockdown."

Nurses from Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) who were protesting against the management, alleging lack of PPE kits and masks, called off their strike on July 22, late night. Nurses got assurance from Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Nitish Patil of holding a meeting in the morning on July 23.

He said, "As state government is not worried about the rising number of cases. They are doing nothing to increase testing. The number of COVID deaths is also increasing in Bihar. Different COVID-19 numbers are being given for Bihar by centre and state. People are receiving test report even when they have not given any sample for test. Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been shifted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) director's bungalow on Wednesday (Aug 05) in view of his clinical safety arising from the spurt in Covid-19 infection. RIMS had written to Birsa Munda Jail authority seeking his shifting as ward where he was receiving treatment was converted into COVID ward.The total number of 8,648 active cases has been recorded so far in Jharkhand till Wednesday evening. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, is serving a jail term after being convicted in the fodder scam cases and was admitted to the RIMS with kidney problem.
