An Indian National Congress party leader was booked by Madhya Pradesh police over a complaint by a Bharatiya Janata Party leader. Jitu Patwari was booked for allegedly posting a 'tampered' photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The post contained an image of the Prime Minister conducting 'bhumi pujan' or ground-breaking at the Ram temple site in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya on August 5. Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) over a complaint by BJP's Gaurav Randive. He accused Patwari of igniting public passions and tampering photographs. Mortal remains of pilot-in-command Deepak Vasanth Sathe reached Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. Mortal remains were kept at the Air India facility near the Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji international airport for some time. Deepak Sathe's wife Sushma and their son were present. Body of the deceased was brought to Mumbai from Kochi. Pilots, crew and ground staff of Air India paid tributes to the late captain. Sathe lost his life with 17 others in Kozhikode plane crash. Mortal remains of co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar were cremated on Sunday. Around 200 Air India Express employees paid tribute to the fallen co-pilot in Delhi. Kumar's mortal remains were taken to his native place in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. An Air India Express plane overshot the runway on August 7. The aircraft fell into a valley where it split into two pieces. At least 18 people, including two pilots, were killed. There were 190 people onboard the Vande Bharat flight. The flight was bringing back Indians stranded in Dubai due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Worms were found in the beds of surgical ward of District Hospital in UP's Mahoba. Patient's relatives alleged no response after incident came to light. CMS said, "This is the only incident and that too due to the carelessness of the ward boy. Otherwise, the hospital remains clean. I have warned him and instructed to clean this."

A family and Kanpur police who claimed to have buried a man were shocked to see him alive again. On August 2, Ahmad Hasan fought at home and left his place. The next day family filed a missing report in the police station. On August 05, police discovered an unclaimed body, and family recognised him as Ahmad. After the post-mortem, the body was buried. Later on August 06, Ahmad returned home after which family took him to the police station. Investigation is underway.

A couple was brutally murdered by unidentified persons in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on August 03. The incident took place in Rail Bazar area of Kanpur. Police is probing the murder case from all the possible angles. The wife was allegedly strangulated and murdered. The surveillance team of Kanpur Police, forensic team and dog squad were present at the spot and they collected evidences from the site. Police investigation is underway and more details are awaited in this regard.
Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and husband of party leader Priyanka Gandhi on August 08 visited the AIIMS where a 12-year-old rape victim who is admitted at the hospital after facing sexual abuse. Speaking to ANI, Vadra said that he met the parents of the girl, and requested the doctors for best possible treatment that could be given to the victim. Vadra informed that he managed to get the parents a room in a dharamshala near the hospital. Vadra also expressed displeasure over the state of security of women in the country.
Video streaming service Netflix has announced support for the Hindi language across its platform. According to Techcrunch, users can choose the Hindi language from the 'Manage Profiles' section on the welcome screen which will then allow subscribers to sign up, search, and make payments in the Hindi language. Monika Shergill, VP-Content at Netflix India, said the new user interface will make the platform more accessible and suitable for members who prefer Hindi. "Delivering a great Netflix experience is as important to us as creating great content. We believe the new user interface will make Netflix even more accessible and better suit members who prefer Hindi," Techcrunch quoted Shergill as saying in a statement.
A huge language war has erupted over the Modi government's New Education Policy 2020. The AIADMK and the DMK have raised the red flag over the three language policy in the NEP. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami has said that Tamil Nadu will not implement the 3 language policy and will stick to the dual language policy. He also called the three language formula painful and saddening and urged the Prime Minister to reconsider the three language formula. Meanwhile, DMK chief MK Stalin also attacked the Modi government over the issue. He also slammed PM Modi's assertion that the NPE would ensure education is provided to all sections of society. Stalin said that the NPE would result in education becoming a privilege of the select few in the next 10 years. Though the three-language policy gives powers to states to decide on what that language would be taught, political parties in Tamil Nadu see this as a tacit attempt by the centre to impose Hindi. Several miscreants allegedly beat up and opened fire on an advocate in Dhoomanganj area in Prayagraj late night on August 09. ADG Prem Prakash said, "The bullet missed the advocate. It has been alleged that the miscreants are members of criminal Atiq Ahmad's gang. Police are searching for them."
