Madhya Pradesh: SHO shifted over ‘murga’ punishment to ‘baraatis’

A station house officer (SHO) in Jatara town of Tikamgarh district in Madhya Pradesh was shifted on Monday after complaints that cops handed out ‘murga’ punishment to people in wedding processions coming from bordering Uttar Pradesh. Murga is a corporal punishment, whereby the person is asked to bend on the knees with arms between and touching the earlobes.
