Surinder Kaur Chandpuri, widow of Longewala battle hero late Brig Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, was not even aware of where her husband was deployed during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Even the news about her husband’s heroism reached her through an All India Radio (AIR) broadcast.
