Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) named India's new Chief of Defence Staff

Lt General Anil Chauhan (Retired) has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), nearly 10 months after the death of CDS General Bipin Rawat in a helicopter crash.As CDS, Lt Gen Chauhan will function as secretary to government of India, department of military affairs, the defence ministry said.Born on May 18, 1961, Lt Gen Anil Chauhan was commissioned into the 11 Gorkha Rifles of the Indian Army in 1981.
