No complaint by bride against dowry demand not abnormal conduct: Punjab and Haryana HC

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has ruled that if a matter related to the demand of dowry by a man or his family members is not reported to the police or panchayat by the wife or her parents, then it cannot be considered as "abnormal conduct" in society. The judges have dismissed an appeal filed by Captain Sandeep Toamar, a former officer of the Bihar Regiment and an up native who was awarded life imprisonment by a court in Fazilka Punjab in July 2014 for poisoning his wife, Shweta, to death and trying to pass it off as suicide.
