SC recommends appointment of CJs of five high courts

The five-member collegium comprising CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices SK Kaul, KM Joseph, MR Shah and Ajay Rastogi recalled the September 28, 2022, recommendation transferring Justice Muralidhar as CJ of Madras HC. Since the government had not acted upon it, and considering that Justice Muralidhar is due for retirement on August 7, the collegium decided to allow him to continue as Orissa HC CJ till his retirement, especially because of the work he has done in digitisation of records and facilitating e-Courts for speedy disposal of cases.
