Bengal flirts with fire, blasts at illegal cracker units claim lives

As investigators combed the burnt-out sites for clues after three firecracker fires in Bengal killed 16 people and maimed many on May 16, May 21 and May 23, experts were convinced that the tragedy was in waiting because of the growing use of, and demand for, fireworks to celebrate every joyous or auspicious occasion.
