Horse death puts question mark over Eden fireworks at World Cup matches

There will be no fireworks display at the Eden Gardens for the remaining two World Cup matches. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has not requested permission for a fireworks display from the Kolkata Police. The fireworks display during the previous match at the venue caused distress to the mounted police horses as the crackers were set up closer to the animals. The CAB had obtained permission for the display, but the match ended earlier than expected, leaving no time for the horses to be taken to a safer distance.
