Congress fails to rice to the occasion

The Congress government in Chhattisgarh had hoped to gain support by offering a higher paddy procurement price. They promised Rs 2,500 per quintal to farmers, but the BJP countered with promises of purchasing every grain produced by farmers under MSP and offering 1 quintal more per acre. The Baghel government supplemented the Centre's MSP with an agriculture input subsidy and paid Rs 2,500 per quintal to over 24 lakh farmers. The BJP's promises and narrative overshadowed Congress' efforts, leading to their failure to see the changing landscape.
