New Madhya Pradesh CM: BJP keeps 20-year OBC streak alive, picks 3-time MLA Mohan Yadav as new CM

In a political twist, the BJP selected three-time MLA Mohan Yadav as the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, denying stalwart leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan a record fifth term. Yadav, an OBC leader, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah. The BJP also announced two deputy chief ministers for the state. The role of speaker for the 16th Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly was given to former Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar. Yadav met Governor Mangubhai C. Patel and staked claim to form the government.
