LS Speaker Om Birla meets Dhankhar, expresses deep concern over mimicry incident

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed concern over the demeaning behavior of some MPs towards the Vice President. Birla met with Rajya Sabha Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankhar and called this behavior a 'new low.' The incident occurred when Trinamool Congress leader Kalyan Banerjee mocked Dhankhar during a protest by the opposition. Birla conveyed his distress in a statement and shared a video of his meeting with Dhankhar. A total of 49 opposition lawmakers were suspended for unruly behavior, bringing the total number of MPs facing action to 141.
