Keventer group, an FMCG conglomerate in Kolkata, bought Rs 617 crore electoral bonds, with entities like Metro Dairy, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and Keventer Food Park Infra Ltd involved. Controversy arose over the divestment process. In 2017, the West Bengal govt divested its 47% stake in Metro Dairy, a dairy firm, to Keventer Agro. This stirred controversy, particularly when the group subsequently sold approximately 15% of its shares to a Singapore-based private equity firm at a notably higher price.
