Qatar- Labor Ministry celebrates World Day for Safety and Health at Work

(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Doha: The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs organised a celebration on the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The event was held in cooperation with the International Labor Organization Office in Doha and with the participation of the Building and Wood Workers' International and a number of cooperating government agencies, representatives of economic sectors, regional organisations and specialists in the field of occupational health and safety. The event which was held via video conference under the title ‘A Shared Commitment to Safety and Health', included two discussion sessions during which the concept of enhancing the collection and analysis of OSH data in Qatar, and practices for protecting workers and institutions from the effects of (COVID-19) were discussed. The celebration aimed to highlight the role of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs within the framework of safe practices and the provision of necessary services at work sites, in light of developments in labour market legislation in line with local and global changes and development requirements, and a reflection of what is included in Qatar National Vision 2030. The event highlighted the achievements that the State of Qatar is witnessing in the field of economic and developmental growth, which requires attracting skilled workers in various fields. Private sector institutions have succeeded in implementing occupational safety and health requirements within workplaces and workers housing, and company owners are obligated to implement the requirements of the Qatari Labor Law and to provide a healthy and professionally sound work environment.MENAFN29042021000063011010ID1101998699
