(MENAFN - The Peninsula) Foot patrols will be intensified during the Eid Al Fitr holidays, especially around commercial complexes to ensure implementation of the preventive measures approved by the Cabinet related to wearing face masks, social distancing, installing of Ehteraz, and other restrictions.  Speaking to Qatar TV, Lieutenant-Colonel Masoud Al Qahtani, the head of the Ehteraz Unit at the National Command Centre said that most of the violations recorded are related to not wearing of face masks. ''We have dedicated field teams to follow up on the implementation of preventive measures. Their job would be around the clock, and it is to ensure that preventive measures are applied, whether in public places, beaches, or in the majlis. Violators will be referred to public prosecution,” said Lt. Col Al Qahtani said.  ''Intensifying patrols and field teams during the Eid period are aimed at following up on the commitment to precautionary measures among the community members,” he said. Lt. Col Al Qahtani disclosed that more than 300,000 vehicles have been inspected regarding compliance with the COVID-19 precautionary measures. He also said there is coordination with other government bodies such as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) regarding the implementation of preventive measures. He urged people to adhere to the procedures, especially during the Eid days, adding, ''We depend on the awareness of the people during this period. The Eid period is a time for family and friends to visit, but we ask them to wear their masks, avoid these visits and crowded places, and to ensure social distancing.” Lt. Col Al Qahtani said that since the beginning of the pandemic, all the departments at the Ministry of Interior have made all efforts to support the Ministry of Public Health to combat the pandemic.  ''People’s lives are more important than family visits, and the public has become aware that adherence to the precautionary measures is in the interest of society in general.”   MENAFN12052021000063011010ID1102068355
