Libya, Italy, Malta, EU talk about collaboration against illicit immigration

(MENAFN) On Friday, May. 28 Libya�s Foreign Minister Najla al-Mangoush convened with her Italian and Maltese counterparts and the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement to talk about the collaboration against the illicit immigration. Al-Mangoush noted at a joint press symposium after the assembly: "Libya has been suffering from the illegal immigration," further saying that she and the other three all concurred to protect the southern Libyan border from illicit immigration with the help of the European Union. Affirming the readiness of the EU to help Libya, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi stated Libya is moving back to stability and security and requires improving the economy in an attempt to offer work for its people. Malta�s Foreign Minister Evarist Bartolo corroborated that the country�s backing for the fresh Government of National Unity in Libya, while his Italian counterpart Luigi Di Maio emphasized the significance of boosting security ties with Libya and the obligation towards the long-term stability and growth of the region.
