(MENAFN - The Peninsula) The Peninsula Doha: The Elia Club of the Student Activities Department at Qatar University (QU) recently held an event entitled, ‘A pledge to us as long as we live,’ hosted by specialists and activists on social media.  The participants included Dr. Majid Al Ansari, Professor of Political Sociology at Qatar University, and Dr. Mukhles Barzak.  Dr. Abdullah Maarouf, a researcher and specialist on Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque, Professor Moaz Al Khatib, a media activist, journalist Muhammad Abu Taha, and Saleh Zaghari, and the vocalist Muhammad Kendo also participated. The event was presented by Professor Ali Al Qawasmi, an activist, from the Youth League for Al Quds in Qatar. The event talked about the developments in Palestine and the repercussions of the current situation. The event also aimed to address the student community, make it aware of the events in Palestine, clarify how to interact and work for this just cause, express the solidarity of QU students and their interaction with the events taking place in Palestine. Professor Al Khatib discussed the policies of the occupation, the issue of Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighbourhoods, whether it is a political or legal issue, and the level of risk of Judaization that threatens the city of Jerusalem and its suburbs, and Israel’s losses from its recent aggression against Gaza. In turn, Saleh Zaghari explained the Zionist enemy’s method of using digital execution, the importance and impact of social media, and international public opinion. Dr. Barzak talked about the concerns of the people of the interior, Gaza, and Jerusalem after the victory of Gaza, the upcoming intention, and the possibility of escalations.  He also mentioned the confusion and randomness of the occupation and arbitrary arrests and their effects on the Zionist project. Dr. Maarouf also discussed the fall of Netanyahu and the repercussions and the effects on the occupying state, and the meaning of establishing a mixed government (leftists, rightists, and centres). He explained who the left, right, and centre groups are and the difference between them. Meanwhile, media activist Abu Taha talked about the situation after the war on Gaza, while Dr. Al Ansari spoke about the opinion in the West and the changes in dealing with the Palestinian issue and how to continue with practical steps to participate in the liberation of Palestine.  MENAFN30062021000063011010ID1102367533
