Elephants were evacuated through the streets and people rescued in canoes on the day Cardiff went underwater

People were stuck in their bedrooms eating turkey leftovers as their Christmas trees and decorations simply floated away. Others voluteered to work around the clock for three days solid, using their canoes and boats to help however they could in the 1979 flood.
