Portland police close parks, remove barricades to avoid repeat of Seattle-style autonomous zone

Portland police – gripped by violent demonstrations for weeks on end – quickly squashed protesters’ attempts to establish an autonomous zone liken to Seattle by clearing barricades off the streets and closing down a park across from a federal courthouse where tents began to be erected a night earlier.
