Merck: Experimental pill cuts worst COVID effects

Drugmaker Merck says it will soon ask U.S. health officials to authorize use of an experimental COVID-19 pill that Merck says reduces hospitalizations and deaths by half. A Food and Drug Administration decision could come within weeks after that. (Oct. 1)
