On July 9, 2023 Pope Francis announced he had chosen 21 new cardinals, including one from Jerusalem who is the  Vatican’s top official in the Middle East, Monsignor Pierbattista Pizzaballa, 58, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. This might be an inportant step toward a Pre-Messianic event.
