"the point is he got out of our perimeter and had he not done that we wouldn't be talking about where he went when he escaped so that's on us any we're going to fix that." after a stand-off lasting more than twenty hours... police chief john plasse confirms the suspect was not even there for several of them. investigations are ongoing... but chief plasse says mikey reynolds was able to escape from a basement window in the home on first avenue... and through a privacy fence... around 12:30am... several hours after the stand-off began. during a press conference... plasse explained the window was not adequately covered. he notes it was difficult to safely see the area while shots were being exchanged... but there was no shooting at the time reynolds made his escape. according to police... reynolds made it to another home on 4th avenue... before leaving again and going to walmart around 3:30 in the morning. chief plasse says reynolds bought a cell phone at the store... before returning to the home on 4th. plasse is unsure why.
"you're asking me to think like a crazy man and i don't know. a logical person would say why would you go back there? obviously he wasn't acting logically with what he was doing." mikey reynolds later died at that location. now chief plasse is working with the special response team to ensure something like this never happens again.
"i told them not to let this impact them in a negative way, no to get discouraged because believe me i have really done some soul searching on what i've done." we told you before... there were four other adults in the home where reynolds died. indiana state police are investigating what role they may have played in all of this and plasse anticipates there will be more arrests. information could be presented to the prosecutor next week. we've put the entire press conference from this afternoon
