ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION STORY: A teaser trailer for a new "Ghostbusters" movie has dropped online hours after the project was announced.
The new film is set for 2020 and will be directed by Jason Reitman, son of the original film's director, Ivan Reitman.
The 1984 "Ghostbusters" film, written by its stars Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, saw three former parapsychology professors (Aykroyd, Ramis and co-star Bill Murray) set up in business as paranormal eliminators, or "Ghostbusters", in New York City, after public spooky sightings and activity brought the metropolis to a standstill.
The new movie is "set in the original universe", and will be the next chapter in the original franchise, but "not a reboot".
This will be the fourth "Ghostbusters" live-action film, after the latest instalment released in 2016.
Co-written and directed by Paul Feig, it saw an all-female cast of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones carrying particle accelerators to bust ghosts, complete with a guest appearance by original cast member Murray.
