Bernie Sanders' Net Worth Has Jumped

According to a new report by Business Insider, Bernie Sanders may be bringing home the bacon.

The 77-year-old senator from Vermont is known as one of the least wealthy members of Congress, with a salary of $174,000 a year.

But according to financial documents, the net worth of the 2020 presidential hopeful is now around $2 million dollars.

Business Insider says that Sanders earned more than $1 million in 2016 and $1 million in 2017, mostly from book royalties.

"Our Revolution" was released in November 2016 and "Bernie Sanders Guide to Political Revolution" came out in August 2017.

This is a step up from his previous annual salary of t $33,700, when he was Mayor of Burlington, Vermont, from 1981 to 1989.

Sanders also previously worked as a carpenter, a documentary filmmaker, and a writer.
