GDC 2019 Preview: What to Watch for from Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon and Others
Gaming is one of the fasted-growing markets today, and everybody wants a piece.
There are an estimated 2.2 billion gamers worldwide, and gaming is the next big battleground for tech companies including Microsoft , Alphabet , Amazon and others.
At the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, a weeklong event focused on the gaming industry, tech firms will be showing off their latest offerings and courting the development community.
Alphabet is expected to announce its game streaming service on March 19.
Microsoft is also developing a game streaming service, dubbed XCloud, and recently announced its Game Stack, a new development kit aimed at game streaming.
Amazon, Facebook , Nvidia and others will also have be present at the event, touting their gaming offerings -- Amazon owns Twitch, the uber-popular live streaming site, Nvidia continues to promote its gaming GPUs, and Facebook is staking out its positions in mobile gaming and VR.
