Denver Area Schools Closed As Police Hunt For Florida Woman 'Infatuated' With Columbine
According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, public schools in Jefferson County, the site of Columbine High School, along with nearby districts were closed as police hunted for an armed Florida woman 'infatuated' with the Columbine massacre, just three days before the 20th anniversary of the school shooting.
Agents with the FBI, working alongside Jefferson County deputies and Colorado state troopers were searching overnight for Sol Pais, an 18 year-old Florida woman considered by authorities to be 'extremely dangerous.'
At a press conference late on Tuesday, FBI Special Agent in Charge Dean Phillips said that Pais had flown from Miami to Denver on Monday before purchasing a pump-action shotgun and ammunition.
On April 20, 1999, two teenaged boys who attended Columbine High School shot and killed 12 classmates before committing suicide.
At the time, it was the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.
