New York City Renames Manhattan Intersection 'Sesame Street' on Show's 50th Anniversary
New York has finally let the world know how to get to Sesame Street, which is now located on 63rd and Broadway in Manhattan, after the Mayor’s office renamed the intersection on May 1.
Footage shared on Twitter by Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office shows Sesame Street stars Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch and other cast members cheering and unveiling the street sign.
The group, along with Mayor de Blasio, celebrated by singing the show’s famous theme song.
The renaming took place as the show celebrates 50 years on air.
