Storm Chaser Gets Up Close With Suspected Twister in South Nebraska

A suspected tornado caused damage close to McCook in Nebraska’s Red Willow County on Friday, May 17.

Storm chaser Greg Johnson shot this up-close footage of the twister and it moved across farmland outside the town.

The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for McCook shortly beforehand, and later told Storyful it could “tentatively say a tornado occurred between Culbertson and McCook,” based on reports, pictures and videos.

A damage survey would be conducted on Saturday to confirm the tornado, the service said.
