Demonstrators Block Entrance to Governor Cuomo's Office to Demand Support for Climate Act
Demonstrators blocked Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office door in the New York State Capitol building in Albany on June 11 as part of a protest to urge the governor to support the Climate and Community Protection Act (CCPA).
Governor Cuomo doubled down on his opposition to the act the previous week amid increased pressure to pass the legislation and strong support in both houses of the Legislature, Gothem Gazette reported.
Cuomo presented his own environmental plan in January.
According to the New York Senate, the act “intends to tackle the effects of climate change by drastically cutting greenhouse gases, diverting the State’s energy reliance to renewable sources, and creating green jobs in an effort to promote environmental justice across New York State.” Credit: NY Renews via Storyful
