Mass arrests as Extinction Rebellion kicks off global climate action
On Monday (October 7), British police said they had arrested more than 100 activists so far in London as protesters blocked a bridge and several roads, and locked themselves to a mock nuclear missile outside the Ministry of Defence.
Thirty protesters were arrested in Sydney's central business district as activists blocked a street from traffic, carrying banners and signs.
Elsewhere, police forcibly removed activist from a major street in downtown Amsterdam and made 50 arrests, and in Berlin a main square was occupied.
The protests are calling for governments to take urgent action to curb carbon emissions.
