VARIOUS, PROTESTERS THROWING ROCKS AT VEHICLES STORY: Protesters clashed violently with security force vehicles in Santiago on Thursday (November 21) as the demonstrations that have rocked Chile moved into their second month.

Throwing rocks and pointing laser beams at vehicles, protesters were met with water cannon blasts and tear gas from Chilean security forces on a street in the capital that took on the look of a battleground.

Protests that began over a hike in metro fares have at times unravelled into violent riots, looting and arson.

The government of Chilean president Sebastian Pinera has promised a raft of reforms to quell protesters' demands, from beefing up the minimum wage to topping off pensions.
