Warren: Bloomberg trying to 'buy' election

Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren blasted billionaire Michael Bloomberg on Monday for launching his nascent White House bid with a $37 million TV advertising blitz, accusing the former New York City mayor of trying to buy American democracy.

During a campaign stop in Iowa on Monday, Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren blasted billionaire Michael Bloomberg, a day after he officially jumped into the White House race.

Warren - critical of Bloomberg’s $37 million TV ad blitz - accused him of trying to buy American democracy.

Pressed on Warren’s accusation - Bloomberg defended using his wealth during his first campaign event in Norfolk, Virginia.

I was lucky enough to build a successful company.

It has been very successful and I have used all of it to give back to help America.” Bloomberg used the stage to slam President Donald Trump and said he has what it takes to defeat Trump in the election.

Analysts say Bloomberg is facing an uphill battle - having to play catch-up with his rivals.
