Bill Nye to Take Disney to Court in $28 Million Profit Battle.

On Dec.

4, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled in favor of Nye, permitting him to take “limited claims” against Disney to trial.

.

Nye initially filed his complaint in 2017 after he discovered Disney did not pay him properly for his 1990s show, ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy.’.

Disney has since attempted to have the case thrown out, arguing that Nye took too long to voice his complaint.

.

However, the court’s most recent ruling prevented Disney from lowering the case to an “accounting spectacle.”.

We welcome the opportunity to litigate the remainder of our clients’ case at trial and finally recover the damages Mr. Nye and his fellow producers are entitled to, Lawyers for Bill Nye, via Fox.

Nye estimates he is owed over $28 million in damages by Disney, as he was entitled to 16.5 percent of the show’s total net profit.

.

Nye is also seeking an award of compensatory and punitive damages due to Disney’s repeated intentional dodging of his initial audit.

.

It is our hope that this case, which Disney has fought so hard to stall, will finally shine some light upon the improper accounting practices that Disney utilizes to unjustly deprive profit participants, like our clients, of their fair share of revenues from the programing that they work so hard to create.

Nye's trial against Disney is scheduled for May 2020, and will take an estimated 10 days
