Many people are relying on the public to help protect them during the coronavirus pandemic

"i hope people will stay at home, to keep people like me safe."

You just heard the plea of a six year old boy with auto inflammatory disorder.

It's just one of several conditions the centers for disease control and prevention says puts people at a higher risk of getting the coronavirus.

Waay31's megan reyna joins us with the message from several people.

They are relying on the public to social distance -- and help protect them.

Moore says:"if she were to end up with covid 19, you know it would be detrimental to her."

Colon says:"it would be detrimental to his health."

Phillips says:"coronaviru s to some people might be like a cold, but to me, it'd be deadly."

These are just three of several families pleading to others to take the coronavirus seriously.

Moore says:"as a parent, i want you to look at this face, that's my baby, that's my whole world."

Heather moore's daughter elizabeth has severe asthma.

The twelve year old has to take several medications daily -- along with weekly allergy shots.

Moore says:"with the way it is, if she gets bronchitis, and we don't treat it soon enough, she end up with pneumonia."

This puts her at a higher risk from falling severely ill if she gets the virus.

Colon says:"his doctors believe that this is, or could be risky for him to get because he has some problem in his lungs."

Eastan colon is also considered high risk.

He suffers from an auto inflammatory disorder.

He and his mother ashley relocated to alabama from nashville to self-isolate.

Leaving behind a husband and father who is still working an "essential" job.

Colon says:"i don't think people think about that either, that there are, there are people separated from their families because they don't want to get their loved ones sick."

And for buddy phillips he knows what it's like to survive a deadly illness.

He's done it before... beating leukemia.

But his immune system is still compromised.

So he's staying isolated.

Phillips says:"i live in a small farm in hollywood alabama, let's kill one of these 'on a small farm in hollywoods' if we can so we don't repeat i'm staying on a small farm in hollywood alabama, i'm not going anywhere, i'm not going to jeopardize my health, i'm not going to jeopardize my sons health, i'm not going to jeopardize the neighbor down the street, i mean you keep to yourself, you're going to be good."

That was waay 31's megan reyna reporting.

These three families have the same message.

That's don't just think about yourself, also think
